The first thing to know about imgsrc.ru is that it’s not the newest kid on the block. The site has been around since 2003, which makes it a thirteen-year-old boy who still lives with his parents and will never have his own driver’s license. As always though, there are some new tricks up imgsrc’s sleeve for its old visitors; namely, a filter where you can change what you see to an 8-bit world of pixellated glory. Since its inception in 2003 imgsrc has grown into one of the internet’s most well-known image hosting sites, containing over 30 million images uploaded by over 10 million users. As an image hosting site, imgsrc.ru is much like photobucket.com or tinypic.com, but with one major difference: the images are free to use and don’t come with restrictions or limitations on distribution unless you want them to. The imgsrc site has also grown to include forums, an online watermark editor, and links to other similar sites like wikicommons.org and flickr.com. Unlike most image hosting websites, imgsrc is built on a different model; rather than charging users for access and bandwidth, the site is free and ad-supported. This allows users access to all of the images hosted on imgsrc.ru without the added burden of an account with a monthly fee. Imgsrc also allows its users to upload their own images for free, which makes it one of the largest sites on the web devoted to photography and image sharing. Another unique feature that makes imgsrc different from other image hosting websites like photobucket or tinypic is its advertising model. By default, the site does not display advertisements to its users, but there is an option to display advertisements in the form of banners. These advertising banners can be displayed in two different sizes: “small” and “medium”. The small banner ads are only 300 pixels tall while the medium banner ads are 900 pixels tall. Imgsrc also has a special category for advertising called "Advertising" which is only used on the "imgsrc" category page. The Content Management System (CMS) used by imgsrc allows users to upload attachments without having to upload them separately. Imgsrc also has its own unique watermarking feature. A user can overlay a small image on top of another image uploaded to imgsrc.ru or any other website that allows users to add watermarks. Imgsrc also has a “forgot password” function that allows users who have forgotten their login information to retrieve it by providing an email address. This feature is only available if the user has created an account on the site and is used when logging in and resetting passwords for accounts. cfa1e77820
